SIDDHARTHA: from the river was presented as an in-progress performance piece using an excerpt of Herman Hesse's text set to live music with water projections and combustible beeswax sculptures. The mask and puppet as found object-effigy served as a focal point to the procession from the performance space to the Hudson River, where the driftwood used in the sculptures was originally obtained. This meditative sonic experience with live storytelling allowed the audience to experience the classic novel in a new and immersive way.
Presented at KinoSaito Arts Center as part of their resident artist series.
