The Cutthroat Series: "Tics, or Doing the Deed"
This ménage à trois comedy brings three couples together for a dinner party in the country. A whetted appetite needs a good fork.
The first of four pods, THE CUTTHROAT SERIES: GRAND GUIGNOL DUELS – GORE, included three one-acts, directed by Flea Resident Directors and featuring The Bats.
Premiered April 28, 1908 and revived as late as 1939, Tics, or Doing the Deed is an “excellent example of a Grand Guignol sex comedy.” Although Tics is a comedy, many of its components like “doctors, jealousy and vengeance, tics reminiscent of madness, anxieties and themes of betrayal, guilt and an overall sense of violating moral laws” are also found in the Grand Guignol horror plays.
